    The IASN executive board recently met and elected Tori LaMotte our new President- Elect.  Tori will be working closely with Joy to learn the ropes of the annual conference.  Tori is the district nurse of the Garrett-Keyser-Butler CSD.  Welcome Tori!

  • Joy and Deb attend the Team Up for Sports Safety Meeting

    Stakeholders from HS sports gathered to meet on Friday, April 21st at Gainbridge Field House in Indianapolis to discuss prevention of HS sports injuries. The two life-threatening topics discussed were sudden cardiac arrest and heat exhaustion prevention.  Representatives from the Athletic Trainers Association, IHSAA, superintendents, EMTs and scool nursing were in attendance at this meeting sponsored by the Korey Stringer Institute. It was good to be at the table with these stakeholders!

  • Help with Research Needed

    Seeking school personnel for school-entry vaccine requirements study

    Seeking public and charter school personnel for an opportunity to participate in a voluntary research study about school-required vaccinations that is being conducted by Megan Carlson, doctoral candidate at Indiana University Fairbanks School of Public Health. This study has been approved by the Indiana University Institutional Review Board (IRB).

    Participation is confidential and involves an interview that will take place virtually, using the Zoom platform, and will take 30 minutes.

    Participants sought for the study include school staff who have provided support or have knowledge of school entry vaccination requirements for an Indiana public or charter school or district.

  • Big Changes coming to Medicaid eligibility!!!

    One in three Hoosiers are covered by Medicaid. With the end of the Public Health Emergency looming, many with this insurance are in danger of losing their coverage due to overlooking requests for updates to their address or income eligibility.  Our friends at Covering Kids and Family in conjunction with other groups have developed a toolkit for providers.  Here is a link to the toolkit: Communicating Changes to Medicaid

  • IASN Executive Board Meeting November 2022

    The IASN Executive Board met at the Embassy Suites in Noblesville IN to begin planning the coming year.  The strategic plan was updated to reflect current trends and some tentative conference planning was done, details to come when the date is confirmed with the hotel. Watch your email for information when it becomes available. We were so lucky to have Jolene Bracale from DOE join us for the day!  In the afternoon, Lorrie Ramsey and Gina Bindley from IDOH joined the meeting to share their initiatives and get to know the board.  We had a very productive retreat!
  • Executive Director exhibits at Midwest Social Worker conference!

    On November 3rd and 4th Deb Robarge, Executive Director for IASN exhibited at the Midwest Social Workers conference at the Rennaissance Hotel in Carmel Indiana.  Over 300 attendees from the Midwest region were in attendance. Everyone agreed about the important work that School Nurses and School Social Workers do together!
  • 4th Annual CKF Policy and Advocacy Conference
